The REACH regulation
The European Unit’s REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) regulation aims to protect human health and the environment by reducing and restricting the use of the most hazardous chemical substances.
As a downstream user and importer of chemical substances in the REACH regulation, Teknos is obliged to fulfil the requirements in REACH. The obligation does not apply to the coating itself (a mixture), but the different substances the coating contains.
As a responsible coating manufacturer Teknos always strives to ensure that its global business is driven in a responsible and sustainable manner, and the company shares and supports the EU’s mission and vision to reduce and restrict hazardous chemical substances.
Teknos’ products marketed in the EU contain only substances which have been either registered, exempted or preregistered in REACH. For products outside of EU Teknos always ensures that these follows and comply with market specific regulations.
The list of restricted substances (REACH, annex XVII) continues to grow. Also, the communication for safe use of chemicals is developing at a constant pace. Teknos does its utmost to reduce or eliminate the use of substances of very high concern (SVHC). Any content of SVHC substances will be communicated according to the REACH regulation, and so will any content of authorised substances. Teknos also works actively to ensure that the communication on how to use chemicals safely described in exposure scenarios and safety data sheets is updated and implemented accordingly on a regular basis.
Teknos is fully committed to ensure compliance with the REACH regulation, maintaining supply continuity, supporting the REACH regulation and keeping its customer up-to-date of its product information.
