Teknos joins EcoVadis network to build a more sustainable supply chain
Teknos has joined the global EcoVadis network. The sustainability network, which is meant for buyers and suppliers, includes over 45 000 actors from different industries and countries. EcoVadis is an effective way of measuring the sustainability impact of suppliers. In the EcoVadis platform suppliers are evaluated based on 21 criteria including environmental aspects, responsible procurement, human rights and labor conditions, business ethics and integrity such as corruption and bribery. The EcoVadis methodology is built on international CSR standards including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), United Nations Global Compact and ISO 26000 standard.
“As a goal in its CSR Program (Corporate Social Responsibility) Teknos wants to ensure that the company has a more transparent overview of the of its entire supply chain and its suppliers. EcoVadis membership supports us in this work. The platform enhances our supplier selection process, also in terms of CSR, and guarantees supply and supplier risk management”, says Group Procurement Manager Satu Rauhala.
EcoVadis has several tools to address the sustainability performance of organizations. In conjunction with the supplier assessment and platform, the organization offers e.g. an EcoVadis 360° Watch, meaning monitoring stakeholder information from many different legitimate and transparent sources on a daily basis.
The power of the EcoVadis network is that it connects different buyers, who can then together drive changes in the supply chain.
“Through EvoVadis we have the ability to detect problems and to make improvement suggestions for our suppliers. These are also visible for other buyers, and thus they can join our initiatives and drive the same change as we. We are hoping that the cooperation helps us to actively steer our industry to a better and more sustainable direction, improve quality standards and commit more companies to sustainable procurement and operations", Satu states.
