The Waldacker Project - A Portrait of harmonizing with nature

In 2021 two elongated building sections with a total of 110 residential units were erected in St. Gallen in two stages. Made entirely of wood, the residential building project designed by the contractor "Previs Vorsorge" focuses on sustainability and careful use of resources.

Its modern architecture with the kinked parallel rows of buildings blends into the natural terrain and topographical surroundings. The multi-storey timber structure complies with the Minergie ECO construction standards and the Swiss Sustainable Building Standard (SNBS), ensuring a natural atmosphere and a pleasant environment for its residents.

Environmental demands are also reflected in the shell of the Waldacker project buildings. The natural colors of TEKNOCLAD SILVER are waterborne and contains renewable raw materials. The coating provide optimum protection against the effects of the weather and UV rays. In addition, the pre-greying effect also reflects the building’s closeness to nature.

The attractive pre-greying effect of the façade can be created in various standard shades, or – as in the "Waldacker" project – colours can be individually mixed to suit customer requirements. The coatings were applied by Holz Stürm AG from Goldach, the supplier of the façade for this unusual building project.
