TEKNOLAC COMBI 151-500 is a quick-drying alkyd paint.
The paint after tinting is used as a topcoat on interior and exterior steel constructions exploited in urban and industrial atmosphere. Can also be used in mild environmental stress classes as a single coat on steel and aluminium surfaces. An example of this type of application can be painting a means of transport, eg. waggons, containers. Before using the product the manufacturer should be contacted with Teknos to check the suitability of the product for the object in question. TEKNOLAC COMBI 151-500 is decorative, semigloss coating, with good adhesion to the substrate, flexible and resistant to weathering. The paint is very quick-drying and is therefore suitable for use in engineering and paint shops.
Surface preparation
Remove from the surfaces any contaminants that might be detrimental to surface preparation and application. Before cleaning of surface, it is recommended to wash it with water with addition of OLICLEAN 123 and then rinse with fresh water. The surfaces are prepared according to the different materials as follows:
STEEL SURFACES: In case of applying as a single coat on steel surface it is recommended mechanical cleaning of the substrate to the degree of cleanliness according to PN-ISO 8501-1 at least St 3.
ALUMINIUM SURFACES: Treat the surfaces with RENSA STEEL washing agent. Surfaces that are exposed to weathering are also roughened up with sweep blast-cleaning (AlSaS) or sanding.
OLD PAINTED SURFACES SUITABLE FOR OVERCOATING: Any impurities that might be detrimental to the application of paint (e.g. grease and salts) are removed. The surfaces must be dry and clean. Old, painted surfaces that have exceeded the maximum overcoating time are to be roughened as well. Damaged parts are prepared in accordance with the requirements of the substrate and the maintenance coating.

Application
Stir thoroughly before use.
Apply by airless spray, brush, roller (for small areas only) or conventional spray.
Suitable airless nozzle size 0.013 - 0.015".
Nozzle pressure 10-15 MPa.
Typical dry film thickness range using airless spray is from 40 to 80 µm.
Changing the thickness of the coating changes the theoretical consumption, thickness, weight of dry coating, drying time, time of recoating and finishing work.
Application conditions
The surface to be treated must be dry. During the application and drying period the temperature of the ambient air, the surface and the product shall be above +5°C and the relative air humidity below 80%. Additionally, the temperature of the surface to be treated and the product must be at least +3°C above the dew point of the ambient air.
Storage
The storage stability is shown on the label. Must be stored tightly closed and kept cool and dry.
