Which is the most suitable coating for prefabricated parquet? Teknos offers a multitude of solutions to meet widely varying requirements. An overview of key criteria and examples will help you build a shortlist.
The natural appearance of wood, combined with the advantages of modern surface finishing and industrial production – prefabricated parquet offers many benefits and is in demand by the market. Manufacturers must take into account a wide variety of requirements: look, tactile feel, durability, cost. The coating plays a pivotal role here.
Teknos offers a wide range of primers, fillers and topcoats for prefabricated parquet. This makes it possible to create layer structures for almost any requirement: from extremely cost-effecient coating, through performance solutions, to the highest surface quality.
The cost-efficient construction offers you an easy-to-use, cost-optimised paint set-up. This build-up will give you a high quality, open-pore finish and is available in two gloss levels.
The performance system build-up offers more tailored options for parquet coatings. The optimised m2 solutions of the standard construction give a high-quality finish. With the standard build-up system, you can produce both open-pored and closed pored floors. Various gloss levels are available to suit your customers’ tastes.
The design-led premium option offers bespoke solutions for high-quality parquet coatings. With this build-up not only open-pore or closed-pore surfaces, but also various effects, such as natural wood effect are also possible. You can choose from a variety of gloss grades from super matt to glossy.
Where an existing plant is used, the number of available rollers limits the layer structure. With just three or four rollers available, sophisticated structures with 6-7 layers are out of the question. But in the case of a newly installed coating plant, Teknos experts can advise in advance which equipment is most suitable for the optimum layer structure.
One major factor is the allowable cost per square meter for the overall coating structure. Local Teknos representatives can already define in a preliminary discussion which structures are possible at a given cost and with which properties. The favored solution can then be planned within these constraints.
It is the functional layers that mainly determine the wear restistance. Various UV-curing primers from the UVILUX SEALER product line are available. For high wear resistance it is recommended, for example, to use one layer each of UVILUX SEALER 172 and UVILUX SEALER 171.
Abrasion resistance, scratch resistance according to EN 438-2 and micro-scratch resistance according to DIN EN 16094 have been tested, so the resistance of a coating structure using Teknos products can be dependably planned.
The same applies to chemical resistance, which is determined by the topcoat. Maximum chemical resistance is achievable using UVILUX 172-10 UV-curing topcoat.
Of course, tactile feel and appearance are essential criteria for the coating system. Where the requirement is a perfectly even, smooth surface, it is necessary to apply putty after the primer in order to close the pores. As a solution, the Teknos UVILUX FILLER product line offers various UV-curing roller applied fillers for cost-efficient, closed-pore layers.
Gloss grade, tactile feel and appearance of the prefabricated parquet are determined by the topcoat. Gloss grades from dull matt to high-gloss are available for high-quality performance layer structures. A particularly high-quality surface with an attractive dull matt finish is achievable using UVILUX 172-10 topcoat, for example.
