Teknos' sustainability in 2023: Making the world last longer for future generations

Today May 8, 2024 we have published our non-financial report for 2023. By publishing non-financial information, we strive to provide transparency into the progress of our sustainability efforts and the impact we create.
"At Teknos, we are driven by our collective purpose ‘We make the world last longer’ and understand the critical importance of this purpose in everything we do" Paula Salastie, CEO of Teknos Group, says.
Our non-financial report provides an opportunity for our entire organisation to come together and share our progress and the commitments we have made and where we still need to improve. The report describes our progress in the areas of being responsible as defined by our strategy.

Concrete actions to build a sustainable company

Throughout 2023 we continued our investments in alternative energy sources. We have continued our journey to understand our CO2 emissions across the entire value chain. Additionally, our people have given time to community activities in supporting the people less fortunate. And, towards the end of 2023 we conducted our first Double Materiality assessment. This work is an important preparatory step in meeting our Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requirements. The outcome of this work will also inform our long-term sustainability roadmap.
"We can see our efforts recognised externally having been awarded the EcoVadis Gold recognition level for being in the top 5 percent of EcoVadis assessed companies." Paula Salastie, CEO of Teknos Group says.

People at the core of everything we do

Being a family-owned company, people are everything to us; with safety being our number one priority. In 2023 we continued our focus on strengthening our HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment and Quality) programme. Through ongoing training, communications, and engagement across the organisation we have transformed our safety performance, with a reduction of more than 21% in our Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate.
“Creating a safe working environment is a continuous development area for any company, that said this year’s result is something all of our people at Teknos can take pride in.” adds Paula Salastie.

Looking to the future

Towards the end of 2023, we started planning for a long-term transformation of our company structures. We call this ‘One Teknos’. We will also develop the distinctiveness of our brand and enhance our culture as part of this work.
Our ‘One Teknos’ transformation will ensure our people become the best versions of themselves. While our unique approach to partnership with all our stakeholders – from customers to the communities we operate in, will help them achieve their sustainability ambitions. At Teknos we know that only by working together will we make the world last longer.
