MDF panels primed to perfection

When demand for their decorative panelling took off, Boardtek invested in a new paint line from Cefla and chose Teknos as their coatings partner. Timeframes were tight but a team approach between Teknos, Cefla and Boardtek meant the line was installed and commissioned within weeks.

Teknos offered a good quality, water-based white primer at a competitive price, and their commitment to supplying and assisting with sample primer trials was crucial to successfully starting up the line on time.”

Teknos’ waterborne primer AQUAFILLER 1151-00 is coating Boardtek’s Matchtek product; a tongue & groove effect MDF decorative panel for bathrooms, kitchens and other interior panelling. The coating has good filling properties, is quick drying and easy to rub down and be re-coated in 1 hour. At Boardtek this coating runs through a Cefla Mito spray machine and drying tunnel.

A close working relationship has developed between Boardtek production engineers and Teknos which has helped optimise production in terms of throughput and quality. Teknos are now also supplying TEKNOCOAT AQUA PRIMER 221-104 for Boardtek’s Flexitek veneered panels. This white primer from Teknos is suitable for fast production lines and provides improved adhesion for subsequent build-up.

We are now discussing further products with Teknos including a vapour blocking primer for moisture-resistant MDF” concludes Anthony.
